Olive Bonsai
The Olive Tree is an ancient species that has become a symbol of the Mediterranean climate, holding a significant place in people's lives for centuries due to both its fruit and cultural value. Native to the Mediterranean Basin, it is widely cultivated in Turkey’s Aegean, Marmara, and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
Its leaves are grayish-green, slender, and elongated. Olive trees are incredibly long-lived; some can survive for hundreds of years. They bloom with small white flowers, which eventually turn into olives. The fruit can be harvested while green or allowed to ripen and darken to black.
The olive tree is highly drought-resistant and can survive with minimal water thanks to its deep root system. It thrives in full sun and performs best in well-drained, calcareous soils. In addition to olive oil production, its fruit is also consumed as a table delicacy.
Throughout history, it has also been a symbol of peace, wisdom, and immortality, frequently appearing in mythology and religious narratives.
